From the Grand Council Executive Board:
Greetings to you on behalf of the Theta Gamma Fraternity Grand Council Executive Board, and it’s advisory members. We sincerely hope that this letter finds all of you, and your families in not only good health, but also well being. The many events which have transpired since our last convention have undoubtedly taken a toll on us all. The unprecedented trials and tribulations that have conspired against our society this past year have changed nearly every aspect of how we conduct our day to day lives. Yet, time marches on, and so must we. Recently, a meeting was held by the Executive Board. This letter is intended to inform you of the discussions that took place, and the decisions that were made.
First and Foremost, it is with heavy hearts, and deep regret that the decision has been made to cancel the upcoming 2021 Grand Council Convention. Sadly, the current pandemic leaves us with no other choice. The health and safety of our members and society must be our primary concern. However, cancellation of the Convention does not negate the necessity of continuing the work of the Grand Council, rather it requires we temporarily adjust from our standard procedures. For that reason, the following decisions have been unanimously approved by the Executive Board.
Arrangements are being made to have our yearly meeting virtually. Though the details of how this meeting will be conducted have not been finalized, preliminary discussions regarding format have begun. To maintain an orderly meeting the Executive Board members will conduct the meeting. Any others wishing to participate will have view only access, and may direct questions and concerns via messaging. Further details on this matter will be released when finalized.
Election of officers will be postponed until the 2022 Convention. The current officers will retain their positions for an additional year. Any officer who finds themselves unable to fulfill the commitment of an additional year’s service may resign his position, and the standard procedure will be followed for finding an interim replacement.
Each chapter will still submit their list of nominees to the Grand Council for 2021.. However, those nominated will not be inducted until the 2022 Convention. Nothing with regards to the actual nomination process will change.
The 2021 Grand Council Bulletin will still be going out. Anyone interested in submitting an article is asked to contact Brother Remey, our Grand Editor, for more information. Please be aware that the bulletin will be in electronic format this year. The idea of printing a limited number for those who would like a hard copy for a small fee, to cover printing cost is being discussed.
Chapter visits will be conducted virtually this year. Again, due to the pandemic physical visits are not a viable option at this point. Brother Bithorn, our Vice Grand Exalted Master, will be contacting the active chapters to make the necessary arrangements.
A final note regarding the meeting. Throughout the past year a great deal of time and energy has gone into improving the Theta Gamma website. The goal being to make the site a dynamic and useful resource for not only the Fraternity, but all of our members. We ask that if you have not registered on the website, please do. We encourage those who may wish to assist in the further development of, or have ideas which may help to improve the site that you please contact Brother Remey. It is also important to note that any officer can be easily contacted directly through the website.
Thank you, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Forever In The Bond,
The Grand Council Executive Board
